What we are about
What We Are About June 18, 2008
Conscious Decisions is about creating stronger communities and sharing information to enable people to make healthy and responsible decisions that will improve their life, their community, as well as the health of the planet.
The purpose of Conscious Decisions is to capture the public’s imagination and educate them in ways that will help them make informed and eco-friendly decisions in their everyday life, instead of just making decisions based on habit. The result of Conscious Decisions will be a more informed public who will make decisions that help improve not only the environment, but also quality of life.

From Josephine
Although I am not the religious type, I must admit that I am “born-again.” No, I have not joined a church, or a cult; I have joined the millions of people who have decided, seemingly overnight, to go green. And though I am not the trendy type, this is one fad I don’t mind going along with. In fact, I consciously go along with it… And believe that at some point, it will become less of a fad and more of a way of life. This movement really started decades ago and has been gaining strength for some time. Are you old enough to remember the “Keep America Beautiful” commercial?
Even as a child, that tear rolling down his check got to me every time, Do you remember the classic Woodsy Owl, “Give A Hoot, Don’t Pollute.”
campaign? Well, I had that bumper sticker on my bike! But as I recall, I was the only one in my neighborhood who knew about Woodsy Owl.
Now, companies can actually increase profits by tapping into the green movement, which has helped turned green into a mainstream event. Trendy, hip and cool to be green?
Absolutely! But, if the end result leads to a healthier planet, we are all better off!
Doing our best
The average person is pretty fortunate. If you are reading this, you most likely have access to electricity, presumably shelter; and my guess is that you are not too far away from food and/or your favorite beverage. You have free time, (you are reading this) and at the moment at least, most likely are in a safe environment. In addition, these days we all have the luxury of living in a popular culture filled with green choices. We may not all agree on green terms and definitions, but at least in general, people are making an effort to learn more and are to trying to take measures to live as responsibly as they can.
